J. Brian Brizendine, M.D.

General Surgery, Wound Care, Robotic and Minimally Invasive Surgery

Dr. Brizendine is originally from West Virginia and attended college in South Carolina, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Clemson University. He received his Doctor of Medicine from Ross University and completed a general surgery residency at the University of South Carolina, including a one-year research fellowship and a chief residency at the VA hospital in Columbia, South Carolina.

During residency, Dr. Brizendine met his wife Sonal, a primary care physician specializing in Family Medicine & Geriatrics. After completing his residency, they moved to central Missouri, where Dr. Brizendine worked as a general surgeon at Fitzgibbon Hospital for over twelve years. While there, he served as Director of Surgery. Dr. Brizendine is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery.

He specializes in minimally invasive hernia repair, gallbladder surgery, bowel surgery, and complex wound care.

​

In 2022 Dr. Brizendine, his wife, and their six children moved full-time to Arizona. He enjoys running, mountain biking, and golfing.

​

Dr. Brizendine is a founding member and owner of Phoenix Unified Surgeons, which was opened in 2023. 

Cammarata

Antonino Cammarata D.O.

General Surgery, Wound Care, Robotic and Minimally Invasive Surgery

Dr. Antonino Cammarata is a board-certified general surgeon with over 19 years of experience specializing in laparo-endoscopic and robotic surgery. He has lived in Arizona since he was 10 years old. Dr. Cammarata served in the US Army Reserves as a weapons sergeant in Special Forces after completing qualification school in August 1989. Dr. Cammarata earned his Bachelor of Science from Arizona State University (Go Sun Devils!).

 

After graduation, he stayed local and earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Midwestern University. Dr. Cammarata then moved to New Jersey and Pennsylvania where he completed his residency in General Surgery, including a Chief Residency year. He worked for the University of Pittsburgh for 2 years following residency. During this time, he met and married his wife Genna, an emergency room physician here in the valley.

Dr. Cammarata excels in gallbladder surgery, hernia surgery, hiatal hernia repair, bowel surgery, and minimally invasive techniques such as robotic surgery.

Dr. Cammarata enjoys hunting, fishing, traveling, and exploring the desert with his wife and two children, Giovanni & Sofia.

Dr. Cammarata is a founding member and owner of Phoenix Unified Surgeons, which was opened in 2023. 

Debora Fox-McClary

Debora J. Fox-McClary, M.D., MBA, FACS, FASCRS

Colon & Rectal Surgery, General Surgery, Robotic and MInimally Invasive Surgery

Dr. Fox-McClary grew up in Western Washington state near the U.S.-Canadian border. She attended Central Washington University for college, where she obtained a BS in Biological Sciences and a BA in Chemistry. She attended the University of Washington School of Medicine for her Medical Doctor (M.D.) degree. During college, she took a break and enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a hospital corpsman, returning home after a brief period of active duty to the reserves. After completion of medical school, she received a commission as a medical officer, continuing in the reserves until 2007, when she resigned as a Lieutenant Commander (O-4) in the Medical Corps. She completed residency training in General Surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN in 1999 and fellowship training in Colon and Rectal Surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN in 2000. She practiced for eight years in Bellingham, WA, then moved here to the valley in 2008 with her husband and children. Her youngest children were born here in Arizona. She completed an MBA with an emphasis in health care administration in 2021 at Grand Canyon University.

Dr. Fox-McClary is board-certified and actively practices in both specialties of General Surgery and Colon and Rectal Surgery. She focuses on surgical treatment of diseases of the colon, rectum, and anus, such as diverticulosis, colorectal cancer, perianal fistula disease, hemorrhoids, and inflammatory bowel disease, as well as general surgical issues such as surgical treatment of hiatal hernias and abdominal wall hernias. She has extensive experience with minimally invasive and robotic surgery, as well as UGI endoscopy and colonoscopy. Dr. Fox-McClary is a surgical proctor on the robotic systems, training other surgeons in this method of minimally invasive surgery. She is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a fellow of the American Society of Colon & Rectal Surgery, and an Associate Professor of Surgery at Midwestern University Medical School in Glendale, AZ.

Dr. Fox-McClary enjoys her time off with her husband Joey, a Kroger employee, and four girls Ella, Becca, Mia, and Tia. She loves crafting, all science fiction, anime-cons with her teenagers, the hot days of Arizona, and RV camping.

Our Doctors were formally in other groups including Surgical Group of Arizona, North Valley Surgical Associates, and Arizona Preferred Surgeons. Dr. Brizendine, Dr. Cammarata & Dr. Fox-McClary are all now with Phoenix Unified Surgeons. Dr. Randolph, podiatrist, is no longer with Phoenix Unified Surgeons.
